Hello, I’m Leah

Fostered in Kent

DOB: 01/07/2023

Gender: Female

Size: Medium – 16kg

Breed: cross breed

3 year old Leah didn’t have an easy start in life. As a puppy, she was kept on a balcony by an addict and only survived because kind neighbours managed to throw her food.
Soon after, she was abandoned on the streets and quickly became pregnant.

Thankfully, caring neighbours stepped in and had her spayed immediately, but Leah struggled to cope with life on the streets. She would follow children around the playground, hoping someone might take her home.

After a short and distressing stay in a public shelter, we stepped in and moved her to kennels and shortly afterwards she was adopted by a lovely family in the UK.

Unfortunately, The dynamics in her adopted home did not work for Leah and she needed to be moved.

Leah missed out on vital love and care in her early years. She had to learn how to survive on the streets with no food and no support, and adapting to life in a home was a big change for her.
She has had to learn how to share, how to play appropriately, how to settle indoors, and how to manage her excitement without becoming nippy.

Despite this difficult beginning, Leah has blossomed into a funny, affectionate 3-year-old mixed terrier with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. She is very playful and full of curiosity, highly intelligent and responsive to training. Eager for mental stimulation, training games, and one-to-one attention.

Walks are still very exciting for her, and in those moments she can forget her training. She can also become overwhelmed in certain situations—particularly around other dogs—and does have a few specific triggers that can make her reactive.
That said, with the right support, structure, and understanding, Leah has already made incredible progress and continues to improve every day.

Leah will thrive in a calm, consistent environment where she feels safe and secure. Ideally a home without other pets or children although she loves to play with children. She needs consistent training and family members that can all collaborate on that)someone who can build a trusting, one-to-one bond with her (a single person or couple would be ideal)an active lifestyle that includes enrichment, training, adventure

Leah absolutely adores cuddles and will happily jump into bed with her person when given the chance. She loves drying herself off on the bedsheets and snuggling under a blanket.

We know there is someone out there who would love an energetic, intelligent girl like Leah, someone who would enjoy going on hikes with her, dedicate time to training, and provide the calm environment she needs to become the very best version of herself

She is neutered, vaccinated and ready to find her forever home. Full rescue backup is provided.
