The amount of violence and brutal behaviour one dog can endure and still not lose his soul or trust in people leaves us in disbelief. ❤️‍🩹

Dill’s story will pierce through your heart. What this boy has lived through can hardly be called a life.

Around 2021, a kind local lady found Dill wandering the streets, covered in blood on his head. He was terrified, keeping his distance and searching for somewhere safe where he wouldn’t be beaten. Only Dill knows what he had survived…

He was taken to the local shelter to be neutered and later returned to the streets. He disappeared for several years, eventually returning to what he thought was his safe place, now nothing but skin and bones.

Locals repeatedly tried to have him removed.

His crime?

He was sleeping inside a supermarket during the freezing days.

The dog catchers came many times, but Dill escaped. Until they sneaked up on him while he was sleeping…

Whenever they relocated him, he found his way back to the place where a few people had shown him kindness.

Trash was his food. Frozen water was his drink. If he was lucky, supermarket staff let him sleep somewhere warm. Otherwise, he spent the night freezing outside, hoping to survive another day. 😔

This was Dill’s life for almost 5 years.

Always hungry. Always cold. Always one step from death.

Then came one final terrifying encounter. The dog catchers caught him again, but his fear gave him the strength to break through the metal kennel, chew through the door and escape the van!

He ran back to his safe place.

One kind person knew this might be his last lucky break. So Dill was taken to kennels, confined to the small prison cell he hated most.

Yet he remains a sweet boy. He loves dogs, cats and people. His favourite days are when visitors come and take him for walks.

Dill is now around 7. His best years were spent surviving instead of living.

We desperately hope his story can enter a new chapter. One where he explores nature, sleeps on a warm couch, has friends, and is finally loved, cherished and safe. ❤️

Dill is kennelled in Macedonia.
He can live with dogs and cats and school aged children.
Dill would benefit from an active lifestyle with long daily walks and a more rural setting with an outdoorsy family.

He walks gently on the lead, takes treats nicely and is generally a very gentle dog.
He is afraid of thunderstorms and loud noices.
