About Me
Background
This beautiful shepherd cross is Alma – she will be euthanized if we don’t help her, only because she tested positive on leishmania, a disease that is perfectly manageable and doesn’t influence her life at all – she is healthy and symptom free and can live a normal, happy life. The kind staff at the shelter doesn’t want this gorgeous, gentle girl to end up like a corpse, but their hands are tied, and they asked us for help to save her life! But unless we have a place for her to go, we have no capacity to help her 😔💔 Please help us find a home or foster for this sweet innocent soul, who definitely does not deserve to die! Just look at that lovely, sweet face – she is a gem without doubt!
Character and needs
Alma is a little timid, which is no wonder considering the stressful environment and all she went through as a stray – these dogs are often treated unkindly and the catching by dog catchers can certainly be a traumatic event. But she is still friendly to people and very submissive. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is an extremely good-natured non-dominant girl.
Ideal Home
We are looking for someone who would like to give Alma a loving forever home and provide her good quality of life. She can be homed as an only dog but another confident dog in the home will help her gain confidence. Her adopter should have experience with timid dogs and no small children in the home. Alma will need time and space to find her paws – she has probably never lived in a home before and everything will be new to her. Patient training and soft guidance to get to know life in a family must be provided. She needs a secure garden where she can enjoy some time outside on nice days. And of course she needs her own cosy dog bed and lots of cuddling time once she has found out how wonderful people can be!
Alma is spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated.
